Compass Datacenters is seeking a Site/Civil Engineer to join its collaborative team in Toronto, Canada. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering and land development, and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a Subject Matter Expert and grow as part of a rapidly expanding team. You willl gain experience in site/civil engineering design for Datacenters and exciting land development projects globally.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as Compass’ SME for all Civil engineering-related matters.
  • Provide expert opinion on various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment.
  • Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
  • Engage with the local civil consultant to review zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, assist with the site work, and sidewalk cast estimations, and determines the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data.
  • Work closely with the local civil engineer to develop the most constructible site.
  • Review and sign-off on proposed site works (Cut/fill, wet/dry utilities …)
  • Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed.
  • Closely collaborate with all team members on project tasks and assignments; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5 - 7 years' experience as a Civil Engineer.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) certification, or the ability to obtain P. Eng. within a year of hire and maintain requirements for Professional Engineer practice.
  • Experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management drainage, and soil erosion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgement capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Infinite curiosity
