Compass is recruiting for a Senior Accountant role providing the opportunity to develop you into a well-rounded accounting professional in a highly visible role and opportunities for future development.
Main Responsibilities:
- General Ledger accounting and reconciliations
- Maintaining multiple general ledgers, preparing/posting journal entries, reconciling accounts and preparation of other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
- Bookkeeping for our software development subsidiary entity and recording of monthly intercompany elimination entries
- Monthly closing of subsidiaries, including support schedules, accruals and intercompany
- Review monthly fluctuations in the Income Statement and Balance Sheet for G&A and record accruals
- Work with our finance group on recording monthly debt and hedging transactions
- Work with our insurance team to record monthly transactions and book
- Assist and support with external audit process
- Contribute to process documentation and creation of internal control and accounting policies as the Company continues to grow
- Develop and continuously improve accounting procedures each quarter
- Help prepare quarterly and annual audited financial statements and footnotes
- Involved in continuous improvement in NetSuite and Blackline processes and standardization for reporting and functional uses of NetSuite and Blackline
Qualification:
- At least 4 years relevant experience in accounting/reporting/audit.
- Public accounting experience is preferred.
- International Company experience is preferred.
- Real estate industry experience is preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
- CPA is required.
- Fluent spoken and written skills in English required. Other languages could be a benefit.
Knowledge & Skills:
- A highly motivated, results-driven professional who can simultaneously manage multiple projects.
- A team player who has the interpersonal skills and personality to influence other team members of the team. Can also demonstrate and ability to work cross functionally with other departments
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Ability to adapt - Accounting standards/projects change at an accelerated pace, and he/she must be able to deal with constant changes to meet the needs of the Company.
- Detailed oriented with strong critical thinking skills.
- Good understanding of US GAAP required
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- NetSuite and Blackline experience is preferred but not required.
