Compass is seeking a Campus Security Manager to join our Global Operations team in the Virginia/DC area.

Job Overview:

The Campus Security Manager is responsible for the security and compliance management of all Compass Datacenters facilities within their region. S/he is accountable for the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by establishing and enforcing security policies and procedures as well as managing the security team. This position communicates and manages departmental objectives, policies and programs, motivates, coaches, fosters teamwork, directs and assesses employees to ensure quality control and service levels are maximized.   

This position is accountable for the staffing/scheduling of Security officers, handling escalations, monitoring operational statistics. The Campus Security Manager will liaise very closely with the Facility and customer operations management team who are accountable for mission critical facility equipment, installations and customer services. S/he is also required to interface with clients on security related activities, which may include regularly scheduled internal and client meetings and acting as an escalation point to external security inquiries.  

Responsibilities:

Operations Management   

  • Provide strong support to security staff in the areas of trouble resolution and daily operations;  
  • Resolve escalated internal and external complaints, tickets and request.   
  • Identify delinquent issues requiring escalations to the Physical Security and Life Safety SME
  • Foster intra and inter team communication and process improvement discussions;   
  • Primary contact for all security and compliance activities–includes 3rd party compliance audits (SOC, ISO, etc.); 
  • Coordinate security operations or activities with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies;   
  • Responsible for all security related items–both physical and staffing related on site;   
  • Ensure all audit and capacity management activities are conducted;   
  • Responsible for reporting various security documents on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis (such as incident reports, proposals, and tactical or strategic initiatives);   
  • Oversee training, onboarding and policy/process/procedure documentation related to security and operations, including both Operations staff and Facility staff or other team staff members as it related to security policies;   
  • POC for security related vendors on project and support related items;  
  • Ensure and reinforce security policy application, including regular reviews and required modifications to all related policies and procedures; 
  • Maintain all physical security tools and equipment, including but not limited to CCTV and Access control; 
  • Accountable for security incident management.  

Team Management    

  • Consistently monitor and evaluate the departmental operations in search of methods/tools to optimize security operations;   
  • Identify training requirements of all existing and new employees and ensure all employees are fully trained and well informed on products/services, policies and procedure to meet performance expectations;   
  • Always ensure adequate staff available to meet the business needs and identify recruitment needs, as required;   
  • Conduct and oversee performance evaluation of direct reports and provide effective suggestions, constructive and positive feedback on staff performance; 
  • Continually assess employees and be directly involved in any disciplinary actions or dismissals;   
  • On call for all emergencies;  
  • Ensure relationship with client’s security, SLA compliance etc.;  
  • Metrics reporting /analysis- follow up, training, change communication, employee feedback/coaching, procedure /system implementation; 

 Other Responsibilities

  • Security Culture reinforcement; 
  • Collaborate with the project managers and contribute to projects as required;  
  • Onsite management representative for Security Technicians
  • Document/update security policy, process, and procedures;   
  • QA of all customer implementation and support operations;   
  • Contribute to the Compass Health and Safety Team;    
  • Support facility construction or expansion activities on security items;  
  • Required to visit all locations within their region regularly

What You Need to Succeed

  • Technical knowledge (including implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting) of CCTV, access control systems, data cabling (fiber and copper plants);   
  • Working knowledge of – Windows, MS Word, Excel;  
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with employees, clients & third parties;   
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;   
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documents and reports;
  • Excels at data analysis and forming and presenting recommendations based on quantitative information;
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills;   
  • Strong organization and time management skills;       
  • Strong focus on compliance;       
  • Ability to propel and maintain cross functional resources and relationships with internal and external customers;  
  • Ability to work effectively with, senior managers and third-party vendors, demonstrating a comfort level to persuade, influence and negotiate;
