Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic leader in Government Relations & Public Policy to lead our engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping public policies that impact data center development, real estate, economic incentives, and utility affairs.
The ideal candidate is well-versed in the regulatory landscape across multiple state jurisdictions, understands federal policy, and has experience navigating legislative sessions. A background in real estate development and/or legal training is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute government affairs strategies to support data center development, advocating for policies that enhance the company’s financial position and long-term growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, local municipalities, economic development agencies, utilities, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the data center industry, providing strategic guidance to internal teams.
- Engage with state and federal legislative bodies, attending public policy sessions and working closely with lobbyists to represent the company’s interests.
- Lead advocacy efforts on issues such as tax incentives, permitting, environmental regulations, energy policy, and economic development.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, real estate, operations, and finance, to ensure alignment on public policy priorities.
- Represent the company in industry coalitions, trade associations, and working groups such as the Data Center Coalition to drive favorable policy outcomes.
- Manage relationships with external lobbyists and consultants to ensure effective advocacy and policy engagement.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree preferred (JD, MPP, MBA) preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory affairs, preferably within the data center, technology, or real estate development industry.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks impacting data centers, energy policy, and economic development.
- Proven track record of working with policymakers, industry associations, and regulatory agencies to drive favorable outcomes.
- Experience managing legislative processes, lobbying efforts, and government relations initiatives.
- Ability to navigate complex policy environments and manage relationships with lobbyists and government officials.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate policy positions effectively.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to assess policy implications and advocate for business objectives.
- Experience working with utilities on energy and infrastructure policy is a plus.
