The Principal, Data Center Design Management is primarily responsible for leading and managing the inter-disciplinary data center design team to support Compass’s global development efforts. This role will play a critical role throughout the data center development process (Acquisition to Operation). In addition, this role will interact with Utilities, Contractors, Designers, Engineers, Commissioning Agents, and Vendors to ensure the successful completion of projects. This position will interface with customers on an as-needed basis to support our sales effort. Must have written and oral communication skills commensurate with this level of regular communication.

Some of the key areas that this role is responsible for are:

  • Responsible for the design packages QA&QC
  • Responsible for performing consistent and thorough inter-disciplinary design and constructability reviews during Compass’ design development process for projects.
  • Coordination with Compass internal design team and design partners during iterative design coordination and constructability reviews
  • Coordination with the Design and Delivery team to ensure agreement and understanding of design issues that have been identified
  • Manage the Continuous Improvement process and ensure that changes are integrated into the design in a timely fashion
  • Act as the custodian of the Compass’ design prototypes
  • Consistently execute using Compass’ Core Anchors and Principles
  • Leverage and preserve Compass’ kit-of-part approach to design and delivery with a keen focus on supply chain fungibility
  • Leverage Compass’ “Continuous Improvement Wheel” to drive innovation
  • Communicate principles leveraging Compass’ Business Lenses Tool
  • Take an incremental approach, and seek alignment with peers, management, and customers when developing concepts to eliminate error
  • Develop Schematics Design & IFC template to capture the Compass’ way and ensure execution continuity and repeatability.
  • Onboard new A&E firms to support Compass’ global expansion
  • Work closely with the Chief Innovation Officer to assess the viability and adoption of sustainable technologies
  • Review 80% of the Daily Logs/Photos/Infra Trackers for each project
  • Advance Skillset- Attend industry webinars, conferences, vendor, or other relevant training, to maintain and build knowledge and technical proficiency in the energy sector – Min once per quarter)
