Compass Datacenters is seeking an Architectural SME (Subject matter expert) to join its collaborative team in Toronto, Canada or Dallas, Texas. The individual in this role will serve a key function assisting with the planning, design, and permitting of data center design and engineering projects. The SME will have the opportunity to grow as part of a rapid expanding team. In this role, you will gain experience in engineering and design for Datacenters and have the opportunity to lead large complex multi-disciplinary design projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as Compass’ SME for all architectural matters.
  • Provide expert opinion on various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment
  • Engage and/or manage the local consultants to review zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, assist with the site work, and sidewalk cast estimations, and determines the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data
  • Work closely with the local consultant engineer to develop the most constructible site
  • Review and sign-off on proposed data center design drawings with collaboration from the broader Compass SME team
  • Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed
  • Act as test fit lead including create test fit drawings
  • Work closely with design partners to steward Compass’ Prototype program
  • Closely collaborate with all team members on project tasks and assignments
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
  • 5 - 7 years' experience in complex building projects as lead architect.
  • Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgement capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Infinite curiosity.
